Introduction

The Education Development Center (EDC) is recognized as one of the core pillars of the university in advancing the quality of education. In alignment with its mission to enhance educational processes across all schools, the EDC mandates the establishment of Educational Development Offices (EDOs) within individual schools.

The School of Dentistry – International Campus, Iran University of Medical Sciences, established its Educational Development Office in 2020 (1399), concurrently with the founding of the School, with the aim of improving and promoting educational quality.

The mission of this office includes providing educational consultation to the Vice-Dean for Education, faculty members, and learners; supporting innovative teaching and assessment methods; contributing to faculty development workshops; evaluating exam questions; and collecting course plans and syllabi at the beginning of every semester.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Educational Development Office (EDO)

• Active membership and participation in the meetings of the School’s Educational Council.

• Active involvement in the School’s educational accreditation processes.

• Developing and implementing the strategic and operational plans of the Educational Development Office.

• Maintaining effective communication with the University’s Education Development Center (EDC) and other EDOs.

• Conducting educational needs assessments for faculty members.

• Active participation in faculty development programs within the framework of the University’s Comprehensive Faculty Development Plan.

• Evaluation of educational programs conducted in the School in collaboration with the EDC, and providing feedback to departments.

• Learner assessment, including participation in administering, supervising, and analyzing School examinations, and providing feedback.

• Evaluation of faculty teaching performance and providing constructive feedback.

• Contribution to educational planning, including collaboration in designing and revising course syllabi and curricula.

• Supporting research in education and the scholarship of teaching and learning.

• Development and expansion of virtual and e-learning education.

• Encouraging participation of capable and interested faculty members in EDO activities.

• External collaborations to advance the goals of the Educational Development Office.

• Providing educational consultation to the Vice-Dean for Education, faculty members, and learners.

• Planning and promoting professional ethics and academic conduct.

• Planning and implementing activities aimed at improving educational accountability, competency-based education, and educational equity.

• Creating a dynamic academic environment to nurture talented students and cultivate excellence in medical and dental education.
